Our Story Begins in the Dust
On the outskirts of Juárez, Mexico — where the sun hits hard and kindness can feel in short supply — a small chow-chow wandered the streets alone.
She had no name.
No collar.
Just street corners she couldn’t trust, and strangers who barely looked down.
She wasn’t just hungry for food —
She was hungry for safety.
For warmth.
For someone to kneel beside her and say:
“You’re fine now. You’re safe.”
We don’t know how long she’d been out there.
Weeks? Months?
Long enough for her fur to mat into armor…
And for her eyes to forget how to hope.
But this isn’t a story of loss.
This is a story of flight.
3,000 Miles to Belonging
When her future mom found her, she didn’t see a stray —
She saw someone worth saving.
She named her Nala — regal, gentle, and brave.
She brushed out the knots. Healed the wounds.
Wrapped her in fleece and fed her with soft hands.
With time, training, and love, Nala even became a service dog.
Then came her “pawssport.”
Nala boarded a flight from Juárez to Mexico City…
Then crossed an entire continent — flying high over deserts, mountains, and oceans.
She landed in Medellín, Colombia — 3,000 miles from where she’d been forgotten.
Waiting for her at her new home were two wagging tails — her new siblings, Roco and Bambi.
Meanwhile, her faithful companion Rocky also found his forever home in El Paso, Texas — but that’s another story waiting to be told.
In that moment, a new chapter began.
For Nala. For Rocky. For all of us.

Today, Nala lives in the green hills outside Medellín.
She chases butterflies through gardens.
Naps in sun-drenched corners.
