Dog Collars

A buckle collar fastens with a buckle and stays the same size on the neck. A martingale collar slips over the head and tightens gently, only up to a set point, when your dog pulls: the style made for sighthounds and dogs whose heads are narrower than their necks. A buckle martingale has both, a buckle to put it on and the martingale loop for the walk.

Wrap a soft tape around the middle of the neck, where the collar will sit, and choose the size whose range includes that number; each collar lists its sizes in inches. For a martingale without a buckle, choose the smallest size that still slips over the head.
